My Independent Study for Luther Seminary

Well I am going to Uganda, Africa April 5 - 18. As some of y'all know me I have been in seminary for quite a while. Just taking classes here and there and trying to notch the classes off one by one. Getting close but not close enough. I have been thinking creatively how I can get some of my seminary credit towards my M.Div. I sat down with Dr. Rollie Martinson and I told him about this trip to Uganda and asked if this mission trip can be used towards my degree and he was totally on board. So this is a low down of what I doing to prepare before hand before I leave to Uganda, Africa and while I am there and after. Below if my proposal I wrote to the seminary to receive a full credit.

Individual Study Proposal

Topic
I will be traveling to Uganda, Africa on April 5 - 18 with a program called Hope 4 Kids International. Our mission is to bring hope and necessary care to children and families. We will be bringing medical supplies to hospitals, care packages, to orphanages and aid to rural communities. We will also help with construction and renovation projects.

Assignments
1. I will keep this blog updated as much as I can.
2. Read Models of Contextual Theology by Stephan Bevans and God and Human Suffering. An exercise in the Theology of the Cross by Douglas John Hall
3. 5-10 page paper on my experiences in Uganda. Using Bevans and Hall as perspectives as well as my own theological thoughts and framework.

Evaluation
1. Online Blog
2. Discussion and final paper for and with Dr. Rollie Martinson

This is what I am working on academically to use this mission trip to Uganda, Africa as a credit for my seminary education. I am honored and excited that I will be working with Rollie on this study and hoping to get some great insights and knowledge from him. As well as growing in my faith as a servant of my brothers and sisters around the world.
